Tata Motors reported a meagre 1 percent increase in sales of commercial and passenger vehicles to 53,057 units in March 2016, the company said on Friday.
“The total commercial and passenger vehicles sales including exports of 53,057 units in March 2016 grew by 1 percent over 52,479 vehicles sold in March 2015,” the company said in a statement.
Company’s domestic sales of both commercial and passenger vehicles fell by 1 per cent to 46,701 units during the month as compared to 47,044 units sold in March, 2015.
In the domestic market, sales of passenger vehicles declined 44 percent to 8,454 units in March compared to 15,039 units sold in same month last year while its passenger car sales dropped by 47 percent to 6,876 units in March compared to same period last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the company’s domestic sales grew 20 percent to 38,247 units in March 2016 compared to same month last year, the company said.
Exports during the month stood at 6,356 units as against 5,435 units in March 2015, up 17 percent.
Overall, company’s sales in the fiscal touched 511,711 units, up 2 percent over 502,281 vehicles.
